The Project
In an effort to maximise pupil concentration levels, St Kentigern’s was looking to enhance its light quality throughout the school and within its classrooms. As a result of the new lighting scheme, they were also looking to see reductions in their energy bills.
After a brief consultation and a detailed lighting survey, we put forward the proposal for them to replace their existing fluorescent lighting with brand new LED fittings, taking care to establish and suggest the most appropriate colour temperature.
The change ensured that the school had taken steps toward moving to LED lighting, in readiness for the time when fluorescent lighting was no longer an option. The installation took just three hours and thanks to the longevity of the new LED lighting, maintenance requirements were significantly reduced.
Achieving the right light levels and using the most appropriate colour temperature has a huge effect on the working environment and a positive impact on those working within the space. In the case of St Kentigerns School, the Bright Source solution helped them achieve the objectives of increasing the concentration levels of the pupils while also realising some significant savings on their energy bills.
