Company History

Our story began over a decade ago; back in 2011, when a range of Bright Source lighting products were developed.

The solutions were created to address the demands of the UK market with an increasing shift to LED lighting.

Five years later in 2016, an entirely separate company – Make and Test Ltd – was formed. This company was founded to create bespoke lighting solutions. Enhancing the offering was the establishment of onsite testing facilities, which provided a service of luminaire testing for a wide range of other UK lighting manufacturers and suppliers.

Ten years after it was founded, in 2021, the exclusive rights to the Bright Source brand were acquired by Make and Test Ltd. This provided full control over product distribution, product development and market approach.

After two successful years of this new arrangement, the strategic decision was taken to create a project team led by Lee Halliday. This Lighting Solutions driven team solves common problems experienced by stakeholders across the industry, throughout the delivery of a project.

This dedicated support is specifically aimed at supporting clients from the early stages of a project through to completion and handover.

Complementing this work is our design team, led by Hannah Baxter-Gale. The team are committed to sourcing and supplying full solutions at the lowest possible cost. We also have the capabilities and expertise to create bespoke lighting solutions, manufactured and tested at our purpose-built factory in Leeds, UK.
